Making new friends

It's drizzling lightly and I can see a man on a cycle coming up the road that goes down to the village. He dismounts before he reaches our boundary wall, where the road gets steep. The man sees me watching him. He is about sixty years old. He walks slowly with the cycle. After a few steps he waves out to me. I raise my hand, too. He now needs to fill the gap between his hand-wave and his disappearance up the road. We look at each other for a while, him pushing his cycle and I sitting on the patio, under the awning. He comes closer and as he is parallel to me, he says, ' Paus podta' (Rain's falling). I nod my head and say, 'Vhoi, khub paus podta,' (Yes, a lot of rain's falling). One more friendship is begun!
